When Life Feels Either Too Much or Completely Stuck — Two Tantric Energies That Help Restore Balance

Have there been moments in your life when everything suddenly feels like too much? When even the smallest thing creates enormous pressure inside you. As if there is no more space left to breathe, feel, or simply be.

Or perhaps the opposite. Everything feels frozen. Nothing moves, nothing changes. You keep postponing things, knowing something needs to shift, yet movement happens slowly — or not at all. No breakthrough comes.

Tantra looks at such moments from a different perspective. Not as problems, but as signs that some energy within us has fallen out of balance. In these situations, Tantra speaks about two very different yet complementary forces — two powerful cosmic energies or goddesses: Bhuvaneshwari and Bhairavi.

Bhuvaneshwari — When Life Needs More Space

When everything feels overwhelming, the issue is not always what is happening around us. Often, the real question is how much we are able to experience without collapsing inwardly.

Take a moment to reflect on that. The invitation is not merely to endure life, but to expand within it.

Bhuvaneshwari is the energy of spaciousness. In Tantra, she is seen as the vast field in which all of life can exist. This does not mean that difficulties disappear, but that you become spacious enough to hold them with awareness and softness.

When this energy awakens, a feeling may arise:

“I can be with this experience without it breaking me.”

Simple Practices with Bhuvaneshwari

Expanding the Breath

When you feel pressure, consciously slow down your breathing. Breathe deeper and more gently. Imagine that each inhale creates more inner space within you.

You may visualize yourself as vast openness — like the sky, capable of holding every experience.

Do Not React Immediately

Create a moment of awareness before responding or acting. Silently tell yourself:

“This experience, too, is allowed to exist right now.”

or

“All of my experiences are welcome.”

It can also help to visualize a peaceful garden or home whose essence is balance and calm. Every “guest of experience” — emotions, thoughts, fears, situations — is allowed to enter and rest there. There is space for all of them.

Bhairavi — When Life Needs Movement

But when life becomes stagnant, spaciousness alone is not enough. Then, fire is needed.

Bhairavi is the energy of intensity, clarity, and action. She is the part within us that refuses endless postponement and stagnation. She brings movement, direction, and the courage to act.

When this energy awakens, a feeling may arise:

“I will do this. I have the energy to go all the way.”

Simple Practices with Bhairavi

Take One Concrete Step

Do not try to change everything at once. Choose one thing you have been postponing and take one step toward it today.

Even a small action plan is already movement.

Create a Time Frame

Set a timer for 10–20 minutes and dedicate yourself fully to one task only. No distractions.

The goal is not to do many things at once, but to be completely present with one thing and carry it through.

Activate the Body

Physical movement helps break inner stagnation. A fast walk, conscious breathing, or embodied practices can help bring Bhairavi’s energy into the body.

Tantra as Conscious Balance

Tantra is not something distant from everyday life. It is an invitation into awareness — learning to notice what is happening within us and using the right tools to restore balance.

And also, learning to ask for support.

Even if we cannot physically see these energies, we can experience them. As ancient wisdom says: those who ask shall receive.

Alongside practical steps, it can therefore be powerful to inwardly invite the appropriate goddess into your heart and offer a prayer or intention.

Because Tantra teaches:

“As within, so without.”

Nothing exists outside of us that does not also exist within us in some form. In this sense, we are ultimately relating to parts of our own consciousness — the very forces that shape both ourselves and the world around us.

As you learn to recognize these energies and consciously support yourself through them, life slowly begins to change. Not necessarily because the outer world immediately changes, but because you learn to work with what has always existed within you already.
